Hydrofluoric Acid

Winn Garrett
Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) Acid

Hydrofluoric acid is used as a catalyst in oil refining because it is highly reactive, this process is used to make petroleum. It is also used to clean metals because it is highly corrosive. Lastly it is used to make other chemicals that contain fluorine like teflon or the non-stick surface on pans. Hydrofluoric acid is extremely toxic, when contacted with skin it creates potentially fatal burns.
